What should you do?

If there’s no strong odor and the mold appears light, here’s what we typically recommend:

Install a reinforced vapor barrier to block out ground moisture.
Seal the crawlspace using closed-cell spray foam on the walls and rim joists to keep out air leaks, moisture, and outdoor temperatures.

These upgrades help control the moisture that allows mold to thrive in the first place.

Notice that this home has no vapor barrier on the floor of the crawlspace to limit water and water vapor from entering.

When to Worry
